Project Plan
Using the Marginly project timeline to plan and track your build programme phase by phase.
Overview
The Project Plan is available on Starter plans and above. It allows you to create a detailed programme for your development project — planning when each phase starts and finishes, tracking progress against the plan, and assigning tasks to team members.
Accessing the Project Plan
From any deal scenario, click "Plan" in the view switcher at the top of the screen. If you're on the free tier, you'll be prompted to upgrade.
Default phases
When you first open the plan for a project, Marginly pre-populates a set of standard development phases based on your project type:
- Exchange & Legal
- Design & Planning
- Contractor Selection
- Site Setup & Mobilisation
- Groundworks & Structure
- First Fix (electrical, plumbing, heating rough-in)
- Plastering & Dry Lining
- Second Fix
- Decoration & Finishes
- Landscaping & External
- Snagging
- Completion & Marketing
You can rename, reorder, add, and remove phases to match your actual project.
Setting dates and durations
For each phase, set a start date and duration (in weeks). Marginly calculates the end date automatically. You can also drag phases on the timeline view to adjust dates visually.
Tracking progress
For each phase, you can log a percentage complete. The timeline shows completed phases in green, in-progress phases in their phase colour, and future phases in grey. Phases that are running behind schedule are highlighted with a warning indicator.
Tasks within phases
Each phase can have sub-tasks — specific actions that need to happen within that phase. Assign each task to a team member (if you've added your team) and set a target date. Tasks can be marked complete independently of the phase completion percentage.
